Anyone looking for bed and breakfast Arran will have noticed that, during the Covid pandemic, most establishments had to close and, at the time of writing this, many of them still are.
Bed and Breakfast Arran – Coming Soon (We Hope) Once Covid Restrictions are Lifted
It was during the pandemic that we, as the proprietors of the Kirk at Kildonan, a popular and busy bed and breakfast Arran destination up until the days of Covid, realised that it may be some time before things get back to normal even after restrictions are eased. Our solution, at least in the short term and probably for most if not all of the 2021 season, has been to strengthen the self contained credentials of our popular self catering apartment which offers some of the most breathtaking views on Arran.

Pour a drink and take in the view – telescope provided!

Although all of our guests, if staying with us on a bed and breakfast Arran basis would have their own room, some areas would be shared such as the guest lounge and the dining room. Clearly, with social distancing in force this would pose a significant problem. Even if we cleaned and scrubbed all day every day we could still not absolutely guarantee that someone who has Covid would not pass it on somehow in such a confined space. Result – we, like many more establishments offering bed and breakfast Arran, could not operate during the pandemic.
Whilst Bed and Breakfast Arran is not possible due to Covid restrictions – Why Not Self Catering Arran?
As nobody is really sure when restrictions will not only be raised but also become unnecessary, we had to act in both our interests and those of our visitors. As a result we have converted our self catering apartment on Arran into a completely self-contained unit with its own entrance which means that, except in emergencies, we no longer have to enter the apartment during a period when it is let thereby enabling our guests to enjoy complete isolation in the apartment.

Our self contained apartment on Arran has its own well equipped kitchen and dining area.
Supplies such as fresh towels, bedding, logs for the log burner etc can be requested via email, text or by calling us – the supplies will be left at the foot of the stairway leading into the apartment for our guests to collect.
So what makes our Bed and Breakfast Arran alternative so attractive?
Well, leaving aside the phenomenal views and the fact that we are only a few yards from the beach and adjacent to the forest walks that lead up to the spectacular Eas Mor Waterfall, those seeking bed and breakfast Arran would find themselves in the closest thing they can get to a typical Arran B&B.
That’s because our offing is to enable those who book the apartment which sleeps 2 adults, to add up to 2 further bedrooms, (which would in “normal” times be available as bed and breakfast Arran rooms) to their booking and still retain the self-contained nature of the apartment.
This means that up to 6 adults and 2 children (sofa bed or up to two singles in the apartment) can be accommodated in self-contained comfort.
